The heart is a pump: it beats before you are born to the day that you die. As a pump, it metabolises molecular fuels to perform hydraulic work, and is arguably one of the better understood organs. This short one-day meeting, organised by the Medical Physics Group, will look at the huge impact and promise that quantitative approaches have brought to cardiology, from imaging to mathematics, and will feature presentations by researchers and students in this area, along with the awarding of the Medical Physics Group’s thesis prize.
