Art meets science: how Akiko Nakayama paints by letting fluids flow and mix

Painters are intuitively experts in empirical fluid mechanics, manipulating liquid and pigment to create fixed, static images. Japanese artist Akiko Nakayama, however, makes the dynamic real-time flow of paint, ink and other liquids into live performances, as Sidney Perkowitz explains. Also, find out from Claudia de Rham and Ian Walmsley how they're paying tribute to the Nobel-prize-winning particle theorist Abdus Salam. And don't miss our tips to get ahead in the burgeoning quantum sector.
